The IES National Road Show with Chip Israel: Lighting and Daylighting for Sustainable Commercial Spaces

Chip Israel is the recently elected IES Vice-President and is also the President of Design Alliance, an internationally-known, full-service architectural lighting design firm based in Long Beach, CA with offices in Chicago, Dubai, and Denver. Mr. Israel will discuss the merits of IES membership (including an overview of the new HANDBOOK published in July) and provide an introduction to the new Strategic IES Plans with a view to the future. He will then deliver a - one hour AIA/USGBC and IES registered presentation entitled: Lighting and Daylighting for Sustainable Commercial Spaces. The presentation will focus on identifying lighting technology and daylighting integration opportunities that support the future of sustainable design (inclusive of the LEED process) as well as fulfilling the energy code requirements notwithstanding the benefits of maximizing the quality execution of lighting in the space.

Chip Israel has been a lighting designer for over 20 years. In 1992, he founded Lighting Design Alliance, a full-service architectural lighting design firm, where he built a highly-select team of lighting-design professionals who now serve a variety of clients worldwide. As President, Chip works closely with the owner, the design team, and manufacturers to ensure lighting systems are fully integrated with the architectural design and enhance the designer’s concepts. In 2011, Chip was elected the incoming IES Vice-President.
Lectures & Seminars -
As a leading industry spokesman, Chip has presented technical papers and educational seminars in over 7 countries and lectured at a dozen universities across the country. Chip is routinely asked to speak at industry events - Designers Lighting Forum, Illuminating Engineering Society national and local conferences, and other international trade shows.
Experience -
Chip has been an instructor at UCLA and the American College of Applied Arts in the field of interior lighting. He has been a guest lecturer at the University of Southern California on the topic of Lighting and Daylighting for Architecture.
